BradycArdia paCemaKer with AV interval modulation for Blood prEssure treAtmenT (BACKBEAT Trial)

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a new pacemaker program called Atrioventricular Interval Modulation (AVIM) in patients who are scheduled to have, or recently received, a pacemaker (either the Medtronic Astra model or Medtronic Azure model) to treat hypertension.

Sex: Male or Female
Age: 18 years and over
Healthy Volunteers:
This study is NOT accepting healthy volunteers
Inclusion Criteria:

• Patients with a Dual-chamber Medtronic pacemaker
• Patients that have Hypertension
• Patients currently taking at least 1 antihypertensive drug
Exclusion Criteria:

• Patients with permanent atrial fibrillation, or currently in persistent atrial fibrillation
• Patients with Type 1 diabetes
• Patients that have kidney failure and/or on dialysis
Interventions:

Drug/Device: Medtronic Astra/Azure DR MRI IPG with AVIM therapy programming
